“You have to expect things of yourself before you can do them.” Michael Jordan
Welcome to another A.W.E. inspired post!
Try following this 3 step approach as you create change.
A – Awareness
What are your current opportunities? What DO you expect of yourself? What COULD you expect of yourself? What could be possible once you started? If you could do anything, what would you do?
W – Work
What can you commit to doing right now? Where can you fit in action? What is you next smallest possible step now that you realize what is possible?
E- Evaluation
What’s next? What worked? What didn’t? How can you adapt? How are you stronger now than when you started? What are the steps you can celebrate so far? What can you NOW expect of yourself?

-Great post!
Thanks Sophie!
Ooh, I love the idea of Awareness Work Evaluation, that’s a good little formula.
As for expectation this is a key point, and I’ve written myslef about the expectation of success. So many times you hear people say ‘I can’t do that’, with no real foundation, it’s just easier, because if you have an expectation of success, it takes away your excuses for not trying.
Expecting success won’t always guarantee success, but expecting failure normally *does* bring failure!
Great reminder!
cheers,
Gordon
“If you think you can, can. If you think you can’t, you are right!” One of my favorite quotes from Mary Kay Ash. Thanks for your comment!
Evaluation….aha, the missing piece in the puzzle to a successful AWE’d experience. Isn’t it strange that we often let ourselves down because we’ve done everything right and yet forgot to evaluate and rework our strategy for achievement based on feedback or assessment of the situation. Thanks for inspiring me today, Lisa.
Thank you, Vatsala for stopping by! The genius is in the debrief! Just little tweaks can mean so much . . . plus it gives us a chance to celebrate the things that have worked!
I remember a time when I was new to the job market and I was just ready to grab any opportunity that came my way. This A-W-E formula is most effective when you reach a certain stage in your career right? A great reminder when you pause and reflect on what has been accomplished and what remains to be done.

Thanks for stopping by! I use AWE for almost everything . . .when I’m trying to build a new habit, when I’m looking at which clients I want to work with, when I’m designing what activities I want to spend my time on in my week . . . .
