This week, I’m visiting family in sunny Florida! Since I’m away – but you are still here – I thought I’d answer a time management question. Remember – each day is a process – keep moving forward!
Dear SystemSavvy,
I have so much on my mind, I feel like I’m spinning in a million directions at once. What should I do?
Sincerely,
Your favorite client
Here’s my response. I’m curious, do you ever feel this way? What are your thoughts, strategies, and techniques to overcome? Be sure to leave your responses below!
[Tweet “What do you do when you have a lot of “stuff” in your brain?”]Dear Favorite Client,
This overwhelmed feeling is common – and one strategy to reduce this “I don’t know what to do next” is to create a brain dump.
Sit down in a quiet space with a blank sheet of paper and a pencil (or pen!). If you think better using the computer, this exercise will also work using a blank document on your computer screen. Or even using mind mapping software.
Next, write down everything that is on your mind. From remembering to pick up the dry cleaning, to replacing the light bulb in the guest bedroom, to creating some social media blurbs to promote your next program, to scheduling an appointment for getting your new professional head shots taken.
Once you have everything written down, then delete and delegate the appropriate tasks, and move the remaining tasks to your to-do list or calendar. (For tips on what to delete or delegate visit this previous post.)
Now that everything is “out of your head” and on paper – the frantic, “I don’t know what to do next feeling” should be reduced.
Sincerely,
SystemSavvy

I try and live for the day.. sometimes the past just creeps up on me..
Keep the focus! Keep moving forward!
Thank you for the comment :) We know oat bars as “flapjack” here in the UK but when I looked on Pinterest in America it’s a name for pancakes.
Best wishes,
Sylvia

I must admit, I never have that feeling. Each day is mapped out, with me riding on the coattails of critiquing other writer’s work, posting daily blogs and keeping up with social media.
Yeah for you, Francene!
